My daughter, Virasha Sandaruwani, entered this school 15 years ago, in 2009. Virasha could not be admitted to any school because she could not stay in one place for too long. Then there came the opportunity to meet the Director of the Chitra Lane School, Mrs. Delysia Gunewardene, through our family doctor, who knew Mrs. Sumanalatha Ratnayaka, a teacher at this school. My daughter was first referred to the Children’s Resource Centre for an individualized programme. After three months, she was enrolled in the Chitra Lane School. Virasha, who was unable to sit in one place even for a very short period of time, gradually managed to settle and work for longer periods. By the time she was fifteen years old, my daughter had no behaviour issues and was doing well in class thanks to the Principal and the teachers who worked tirelessly with her. My daughter, who was unwilling to do anything at the beginning, reached high standards in dancing, singing and sporting activities as a result of the dedication of the teaching staff of Chitra Lane School. Virasha won best ‘sportsperson’ award for four consecutive years at the school annual sports meet. She was also an active girl guide in the school. My daughter's talents were recognized there and she was enrolled in the Cookery section to pursue vocational training. She also followed the Baker course leading to a NVQ 3 qualification, an achievement that wouldn’t have been open for her in any other school. For all this and more, I am very thankful to Mrs. Delysia Gunewardene for establishing a school like Chitra Lane. Moreover, many thanks to all the staff members who raised my child and others like her to the highest level possible with great enthusiasm and dedication from the day they come to Chitra Lane. May the strength, courage and luck be given to all the teaching staff and the Principal of Chitra Lane School to bring more children like mine to this standard! Sincerely,

When Thisali, our daughter was diagnosed with autism at the age of two years and four months, we started taking her to various government and private institutions for speech and language therapy, physiotherapy etc. We continued to do this for the past ten years until she was 13 years. On the first day of our visit to the Chitra Lane Children's Resource Center at the end of May 2023, we received peace of mind and hope for the future from your institution that we have not had in all of the last ten years. The kind and loving words of Mrs. Delysia Gunewardene gave us great hope for the future of our daughter. Up to then, we couldn’t take Thisali to any place where there was noise or a crowd. Now for the first time in her life, we are able to take her without any difficulty to large gatherings and parties where there is lots of noise and people. It is because of the talent of the teaching staff and the Principal of your school. Our daughter spends her time at home with calmness and happiness like never before, and comes to school very happily. We would like to thank the teachers and staff at Chitra Lane for the unlimited love, kindness and patience shown to parents like us and our children. We wish you all more strength and courage to strengthen the future of such children. Sincerely,
L Samarawickrama
